Access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene is the most basic human need for health and overall well-being. The sustainable development Goal 6 goes beyond drinking water, sanitation and hygiene to address the quality and sustainability of water resources, which is critical to the survival of human beings and the planet at large. The 17 Sustainable Development Goals all depend on the attainment of SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation. Without the attainment of SDG 6, achieving the other SDGs would pose to be a challenge and therefore, it is important to start closing the gap in the water and sanitation sector in Zambia, the region and abroad. Therefore, a number of challenges and solutions have to be discussed at the 12th ZAWAFE.
