Mission
The Zambia Water Forum and Exhibition aims to create a platform for knowledge sharing by bringing together Governments, Civil Society Organizations, the private sector, and local communities to drive sustainable solutions for global water and sanitation challenges.
Objectives
The overall objective of the forum is to inspire actionable outcomes, drive policy change, and accelerate progress toward a world where clean water and sanitation are accessible to all. Within this objective, ZAWAFE also seeks to:
- Increase Public Awareness and Engagement: Raise awareness about the critical importance of water and sanitation for health, good hygiene practices, economic development, and the environment, and engage the public in responsible water use practices.
- Foster Multi-Stakeholder Collaboration: Encourage partnerships between governments, NGOs, businesses, and communities to address water and sanitation challenges with collective resources, expertise, and leadership.
- Stakeholder participation: Encourage stakeholder participation through bottom-up approach.
- Drive Policy Advocacy: Advocate for effective policy frameworks at local, national, and international levels that prioritize water and sanitation as essential human rights and sustainable development goals.
- Monitor Progress and Accountability: Contribute to tracking global progress toward achieving SDG 6 (Clean Water and Sanitation for All) and promote accountability in meeting targets related to water accessibility, quality, and sustainability.
- Communicate the importance of water in the health, energy, agriculture, mining and manufacturing, and tourism (recreation) sectors.
- Highlight current challenges such as climate change, floods, infrastructure, water, energy, food, and environment nexus, capacity building and skills needed in water and sanitation
- Raise awareness for Investments to meet SDG targets and Vision 2030 through the Zambia Water Investment Programme 2022-2030.
